Jason has founded and co-founded many different businesses over the past decade. He has a diverse portfolio, from orthodontics and dental practices to youth sports franchises and an airplane brokerage company. He has been fortunate to see many successes across them all. In 2019 he was nominated for and voted into the Triangle’s 40 under 40, recognizing success in business and innovation. He is a serial entrepreneur whose focus is always to give more to his partners than he takes from the relationship.
He attributes much of his success in business to his time at North Carolina State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Business Management and minor in Economics, Accounting, and Marketing. A “one-off” degree at the time, was just the start to achieving both of his goals of earning a business degree and pursuing a career in orthodontics. Jason would then move on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Then finally completed his formal education at Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned his certificate of specialty in orthodontics and his Master’s degree. Throughout his educational journey, Jason always graduated at the top of his class and was recognized throughout with numerous educational awards and recognitions.
Jason founded Gladwell Orthodontics in 2007, a period most would not consider to be ideal for starting any business. However, he took advantage of the shifting markets and economic downturn and used that as a chance to reinvent the practice of orthodontics. Over the next ten years, he would grow Gladwell Orthodontics to be the largest single orthodontic practice in the Southeast, before scaling and expanding locations to be one of the largest single-owner orthodontic portfolios in the country. He is currently one of the largest providers of Invisalign orthodontic treatment in the United States and globally. Jason is a master faculty member for Align Technology, and preferred partner for any new product or feature beta testing and new educational program development. In 2019 he created the Strategic Partners Program (SPP), which was designed to forever change the referral patterns and relationships between general dentists and orthodontists. In doing so, he solved a problem that had existed since the beginning of dental specialties. Gladwell Practice Solutions (GPS) will launch in 2025; the first and only fully Align endorsed education platform for the dentist, as well as their entire team. GPS aims to unlock the potential of every office through training dedicated to ensuring every doctor and office becomes a master of the business of dentistry, as they are the science of dentistry.
Despite his numerous successes in business, his proudest accomplishment comes from his best support system, Anna Gladwell, his wife of over 17 years, and their two children Olivia and Jason Jr. As markets and economies go up and down, their support is always there helping him continue forward to reach their goals as a family.
